Brain Activity

Keeping your brain working is a healthy thing to do, just like exercise.

Try one of these, write it down, and bring it to school!

Starts at :15 seconds.

This video includes all 44 presidents with their presidential portraits but could be harder to memorize!

Valentine's Party

We will be enjoying a Valentine's Day party this FRIDAY February 11th.

I am encouraging families to bring healthy snacks and not JUST cookies and cupcakes.  Please consider a healthy alternative to candy and chocolate!

Student names for Valentine's Day were sent home last week.

Valentines are an all or nothing deal.  Bring one for everyone, or don't bring any.
Your choice.

We will begin our celebration at 1:45 on Friday.
Parents are welcome to join us at that time.

If you have questions or concerns please contact Mrs. Rose!

BOXES:
We are decorating our boxes on Wednesday.  Bring any craft supplies to share.
We've got PLENTY of boxes!

Library

Wednesday Library

Our goal is to visit the library each week.

Students may check out up to two books and may return one and check out more before our next library date.

Have you seen your child reading a library book recently?  If not, find out why!!  We want them to be reading interesting material each night at home

State Testing Series III

Handwriting

Some say it is a lost art....but in the 4th grade it is still a necessity!

Want a peculiar family activity?

Have a handwriting challenge.

See who makes the neatest letters, who holds their pencil correctly,
who knows how to make all the cursive letters....

On the state tests, and daily assignments handwriting is what communicates ideas clearly.  It doesn't have to be perfect script, but we need to be able to read it.

Handwriting practice...
It might not be the most exciting activity, but it could be interesting!

Research with Netbooks

Our Science Space Reports are going well and should be finished soon.
We checked out the Netbook mobile lab and finished up some research in class.  Students went to our school homepage and then logged into WorldBook Kids Encyclopedia.  They were able to research the planets, asteroids, black holes, comets, and much more!  They are working on research skills, non-fiction reading, and technical expository writing.
They were able to take the notes directly from the computer to their projects.
Right in our classroom!  Isn't technology great?
We aren't quiet at 1:1 technology to student ratio's, but we can for some lessons!  Who knows what they'll be doing by high school!

Learn more about what 1:1 is here!
